Ingredients

  • 1 big crusty loaf of bread
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese sliced into small cubes
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese ball
  • 2 jalapeno peppers seeded and sliced
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C)
  • Combine the butter, garlic, and salt in a bowl and put them in the microwave until just melted. Then mix in the parsley and jalapeno slices.
  • Cut the bread in 1" diamond pattern. While slicing, focus on sawing with the knife and let the blade do the work instead of pressing down and squishing your bread. Be careful not to cut all the way through the bread, leave about a half inch intact.
  • Pull apart the cracks in the bread and stuff each crack with a bit of the butter mix and some shredded cheese.
  • Brush the top of the loaf with any remaining butter, then top with the mozzarella cubes.
  • Wrap the whole loaf in foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then unwrap the foil to expose the top of the loaf and bake for another 5 minutes, or until you've helped crisp up the crust to your liking.
  • Serve to hungry adventurers!

Notes

This was such an easy way to make such a fantastic appetizer! Stuffing the cracks with the butter and cheese took a little bit but every other part of the recipe was as easy as can be! And because of the diamond slicing pattern, this is great for finger food for your Dungeons and Dragons party to have at the table.
