Adventurer's Rest Red Miso Soup - DnD, Fantasy, Video Game Inspired Cooking
Equipment
- 1 small pot
- 1 Fine Mesh Strainer optional
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 packets instant dashi seasoning powder the instant dashi I used was 1 packet per 2 cups of water
- 8 oz silken tofu diced into 1/2 inch cubes
- 4 tbsp red miso paste see notes
- 1 Tbsp dried wakame seaweed If you cannot find wakame, use 1 sheet of nori instead and rip it up before adding to the soup
- 2 green onions thinly sliced diagonally, both greens and whites
Instructions
- Bring the water to a simmer in a pot and then add the instant dashi packets
- Turn off the heat, or set to low. Do not boil past this point, otherwise the miso soup will lose both flavor and nutrients.
- Add the miso paste to the pot. You can simply stir it in, or first put it in a fine-mesh strainer and use a chopstick to swirl it around and push it through the strainer. I find that this dissolves the miso into the soup easier.
- Add in the tofu cubes, green onions, and wakame. Taste the soup, if it is a bit salty due to the wakame, add a little more water.
- If you had the heat off, turn it on low now to warm the soup but do not boil.
- Serve warm and enjoy, adventurer!
