Servings 6 Hobbitses
Cost 5 gold

Ingredients

  • 5 large russet potatoes
  • 6 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 cup half and half
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and cut into approximately 1 inch cubes.
  • Place potatoes into a large pot with cold, salted water. Ensure the water line sits about 1 inch above the potatoes.
  • Turn the heat to high and bring the water and po-tay-toes to a boil. Reduce heat to avoid boiling over. Boil the potatoes for about 15 minutes, or until they can be broken with a fork with no resistance.
  • Drain the water.
  • Mash the potatoes. You can mash enough to leave some chunks, or mash until completely smooth. It is up to your preference!
  • While you mash, add the melted butter. Then, add the half and half a little bit at a time until you reach the desired consistency. Add the salt and pepper to taste.
  • Plate and serve the po-tay-toes by itself or as a side to our Hearty Pork Shoulder Roast!
