Dulce de Leche Pumpkin Spice Latte
Equipment
- Electric Mixer Hand mixing works as well, will just take a bit longer
- 16 oz cup or larger
- Large, deep pot
- Large Mixing bowl
Ingredients
- 2 shots Espresso approx 3 oz
- 13 oz Milk of Choice Almond, 2%, Oat, Soy, etc.
Dulce de Leche
- 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk 14 oz
Pumpkin Spice Sauce
- 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk 14 oz
- ½ cup Pumpkin Puree
- 3 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
Whipped Cream
- 1 ½ cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tbsp Powdered Sugar Confectioners' Sugar
Instructions
Dulce de Leche
- Remove the label from the can and place it in a large, deep pot
- Fill the pot with water until the can is submerged and there is 1-2 inches of water above it
- Bring the water to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Let the pot simmer for 3 hours. Optionally, you can simmer for more time to get a darker caramelization, and less time to get a lighter caramelization. However, the darker the caramelization, the more difficult it will be to drizzle later. I went for a medium/medium light caramelization.
- Be sure to check on the pot occasionally, and add water as it boils off. Keep the can covered in 1-2 inches of water.
- Remove the can from the water and let it FULLY cool. Do not open the can while it is hot! If you open it while it is hot, the Dulce de Leche will explode. This is because the can acts as a pressure cooker during the cooking process.
Pumpkin Spice Sauce
- Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine.
- Put sauce in mason jar or airtight container and refrigerate. Sauce should be good for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
Whipped Cream
- Add all ingredients to a large bowl
- Whip with a wisk, or electric mixer, until stiff peaks form
- Refrigerate until ready to use
Assembly
- In a 16 oz cup (perhaps your favorite adventuring horn), mix a tablespoon of the pumpkin spice sauce with the espresso. Once combined, fill most of the way up with your choice of milk, leaving a little space at the top
- Add a scoop of the whipped cream, and drizzle the top with dulce de leche.
- Add a straw if you prefer, and enjoy adventurer!
