Equipment

  • Frying pan

Ingredients

  • 4 cups calrose white rice at least a day old
  • 1 ½ tbsp butter salted
  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped
  • ½ cups cooked edamame
  • ½ cups cooked corn
  • 1 ½ tbsp mirin
  • 1 ½ tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 ½ tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 freshwater lobster tail cooked (you can buy pre-cooked frozen lobster from the grocery)
  • ¾ cup cooked shrimp
  • green onions optional for garnish
  • sesame seeds optional for garnish

Sauce

  • ½ cups mayo
  • ¼ cups sriracha
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil or more to taste
  • ½ tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • To make the sauce, add all ingredients to a bowl and mix, refrigerate until rice is done and plated
  • Now for the rice, heat a skillet on medium heat
  • Put the butter in the skillet and let it melt. Then add garlic and cook till you can smell the aroma, just like 20 seconds.
  • Add rice and cook till it starts to get crispy on the bottom, about 5 minutes
  • Flip the rice (not stir, we're trying to get an even crisp on each side)
  • Add sesame oil, fish sauce, soy sauce, mirin, edamame, and corn
  • Cook until crispy on the bottom, about 5 minutes
  • Flip again
  • Cook until firmly crispy, about 5 more minutes
  • Remove from heat, plate rice and top with cooked shrimp and lobster tail
  • Dip into the sauce, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if you so choose, and gain 4 hearts to resume saving Hyrule!

Notes

We love cooking in video games and also love bringing gaming recipes to life! Tears of the Kingdom has so many delicious looking foods that we can't wait to explore and this one started us off strong! Flipping the rice and letting it cook for a few minutes on each side helps develop the crispy texture which this recipe is all about. Feel free to flip more or less for a more or less crispy result. Additionally, depending on the pan you may have to let the rice crisp a bit longer, you're looking for a light brown toasted look when flipping the rice.

Tried this, if you double the ingredients (and there for the servings) it’ll feed a good fat family of 4. The sauce is pleasantly spicy, to cool down you could add a touch of ketchup. We didn’t need it as it was pleasant
