Hungry Halfling Hotdish - DnD Inspired Cooking
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 lb thick cut bacon
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tbsp garlic minced
- 3 tbsp chives
- ground black pepper to taste
- 2.5 lb potatoes shredded, or tater tots
- 15 oz cream of mushroom soup
- 10 oz cream of celery soup
- 8 oz french-fried onion rings
- 2 cups cheese we used shredded parmesan
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F
- Over a medium-high cooking fire or stove, fry your potatoes until they start beginning to crisp, but not all the way. About 15 minutes.
- Remove the potatoes and then fry the bacon until almost done, saving most of the grease in the pan.
- Remove the bacon and add in the onion and garlic, fry for 2 minutes and then add in the beef, pork, salt, and pepper. Fry until brown and then drain the excess liquid.
- In a large baking dish, or cast iron skillet, put the beef, pork, and onions in a flat layer and top with chives.
- Layer the potatoes on top, then the bacon, then spread the soups, then the french-fried onions.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until the top gets nice and brown. Top with cheese.
- Serve to your hungry adventuring party!

Added mushrooms and used queso shredded cheese. Super tasty and filling. I’m actually on the edge of having a food coma after two helpings.
