Equipment

  • 1 large skillet We used cast iron
  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 slotted ladle, or sieve

Ingredients

  • Pancake Mix enough for about 3 average sized pancakes
  • 4 pieces boneless fried chicken
  • 4 slices bacon we prefer thick cut for optimal tavern feel
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • ¼ cup hollandaise sauce
  • 3 tbsp pepper jelly
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup we used light syrup
  • 3 green onions chopped

Instructions

  • Fry your bacon in the skillet until done to your liking. Remove and set on a paper towel and wipe out most of the grease form your skillet.
  • Fill your pot with about 4 inches of water and begin to heat it to a boil while you proceed with the rest of the recipe.
  • Pour the pancake batter into your skillet and cook according to the directions. We used enough batter to make a pancake roughly the size of our whole skillet so we could just stack everything on top and serve from the skillet itself.
  • Once your water is boiling, reduce the heat to low. Crack your eggs over a small bowl into your slotted ladle or sieve, draining the thin whites through into the bowl. Add the vinegar to your pot of water and sitr quickly, creating a vortex. Continue stirring while your plop your eggs (without the thin whites) into the center of the vortex. The vinegar and vortex should keep the eggs in a roughly tight form. After about 30 seconds of stirring you can stop and let them continue to cook for 3 total minutes in the water. While its cooking, do the next quick steps.
  • Spread the pepper jelly on the pancake, then top with the fried chicken and bacon.
  • Remove your eggs from the water once they hit the 3 minute mark and set them gently on the pile of food. Top with syrup, hollandaise, and green onions.
  • Serve to a hungry Dungeons and Dragons Monk in dire need of healing and watch as they quickly return to their agile self. Or serve to about 3 regular adventurers!
